Quartz
Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil
13,8×7,5×6 cm. (main Quartz 9,7 cm.)
Very aesthetic quartz cluster from this world famous location, showing clouds of white to gray clay inclusions; in evidence a prominent and transparent Quartz crystal with a captivating smoky color effect, visible up to about half of the crystal. Diamantina is known for producing interesting inclusions in quartz crystals. Typically, these are of clay (white to brown muddy looking), chlorite (green), or brookite (brown). Many of the crystals, from here, sustain severe damage during their extraction, so many are polished and some defects, on collector’s specimens, are normally accepted.
